Locker Room Epoxy Flooring Bohemia, NY

A Floor That Handles Everything a Locker Room Throws at It

Waterproof locker room flooring that resists moisture, bacteria, and daily punishment — installed right the first time.

In Business Since 1990

Three and a half decades of commercial installs means we’ve seen what fails — and exactly how to prevent it.

Factory-Certified Resinous Systems

We’re trained directly by manufacturers in cementitious urethane and polyaspartic systems — the coatings wet environments actually require.

ASTM Moisture Testing Standard

Every slab gets tested before we coat it. Skipping moisture testing is the number one reason locker room epoxy fails early.

Waterproof Locker Room Flooring Bohemia

The Right Floor for a Genuinely Tough Environment

Locker rooms are one of the hardest environments a floor can live in. Constant moisture from showers, wet shoes, towels, and daily cleaning creates conditions that chew through ordinary flooring fast. Tile grout turns black. Seams open up. Odors set in that no cleaner can fully remove. Epoxy flooring eliminates most of those problems at the source. A properly installed seamless surface leaves nowhere for water to pool, nowhere for bacteria to hide, and nothing to regrout or reseal season after season. We install commercial-grade epoxy systems for schools, gyms, recreation centers, and athletic facilities throughout Bohemia and across Suffolk County. If you manage a facility and you’re tired of fighting the same floor problems on repeat, this is worth a closer look.

What Changes When the Floor Is Done Right

From the day it’s installed, a properly coated locker room floor makes daily maintenance easier and long-term problems far less likely.
No more grout lines means bacteria and mold have nowhere to grow between cleanings.
Your locker room stops smelling like a problem that can’t be solved — because the source is sealed off.
Slip-resistant aggregate built into the topcoat keeps wet barefoot surfaces safe without sacrificing appearance.
You stop scheduling repeat maintenance for regrouting, resealing, or patching sections that keep breaking down.
EPA-registered antimicrobial protection is built into the coating itself — not just applied to the surface where it wears away.
A floor installed correctly can realistically last 10 to 20 years with nothing more than routine cleaning.

Moisture Mitigation Epoxy Locker Rooms

Moisture Is Why Most Locker Room Floors Fail

If you’ve had epoxy installed before and watched it bubble, peel, or delaminate within a few years, moisture was almost certainly the cause. Concrete slabs — especially ground-level slabs like those found in school locker rooms and gym facilities — emit water vapor continuously. When that vapor has nowhere to go, it builds pressure beneath the coating and eventually forces it off the slab. This is not an epoxy problem. It’s an installation problem. And it’s entirely preventable. Before we apply anything, we test every slab for moisture vapor emission using ASTM F1869 and ASTM F2170 protocols — the industry standards for this exact issue. If the readings come back above threshold, we install a two-component vapor barrier membrane that meets ASTM F3010 requirements before any coating goes down. The coating then bonds to a properly prepared, moisture-managed surface instead of a ticking clock. Long Island’s coastal humidity makes this step especially important. We’ve been having this conversation with facility managers throughout Bohemia and the surrounding Islip area for over 35 years. The ones who skipped moisture testing with a previous contractor are usually the ones calling us to fix what failed.

The Details That Separate a Good Floor from a Great One

Surface preparation is where most shortcuts get taken — and where most failures start. We use diamond grinding on every slab to mechanically open the concrete pores and create a real chemical bond between the substrate and the coating. Acid etching, the faster alternative many contractors use, produces a weaker, less consistent profile. It’s not adequate for a high-moisture commercial environment, and we don’t use it. Once the slab is properly prepared, we install a seamless epoxy cove base that runs four to six inches up the wall at every floor-wall junction. That gap — where the floor meets the wall — is where water infiltrates, migrates under the coating, and quietly grows mold that’s invisible until it’s a serious problem. A continuous cove base eliminates that vulnerability entirely. The topcoat gets aluminum oxide or quartz aggregate broadcast into it while it’s still wet, creating a textured, slip-resistant finish that meets ADA requirements for barefoot wet environments. Every layer gets full cure time before the next one goes down. No rushing.

From First Visit to Finished Floor, Here's What to Expect

Slab Inspection and Moisture Testing

We assess the concrete, test for moisture vapor, and identify any cracks or existing coatings before recommending a system.

Surface Prep and System Selection

Diamond grinding opens the slab for a true chemical bond. We select the coating system based on your actual environment — not a one-size-fits-all default.

Multi-Coat Application and Cure

Primer, base coat, and topcoat are applied in sequence with full cure time between layers — including cove base and anti-slip aggregate.
